The Omaha Supernovas' fairytale season hit a wall, and it was called the Indy Ignite. In a gripping five-set showdown, Omaha fell 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 13-15. This was more than a loss—it was a seismic shift.
Omaha's Season of Dreams
Brooke Nuneviller went out swinging, tying her season high with 22 kills. She was the heart and soul of this team, named the 2025 PVF Outside Hitter of the Year for good reason. But even her heroics weren't enough.
Reagan Cooper wasn't far behind, hitting .342 with 18 kills. The duo was on fire, but the Supernovas just couldn't close it out. Emily Londot added 12 kills and a team-high 18 digs, trying to hold the line. Yet, in the end, it slipped away.
Indy Had Other Plans
Indy's rookie sensation Nina Cajic was a problem. She racked up 21 kills at a .347 clip, including seven crucial ones in the fifth set alone. When Indy needed a hero, Cajic stepped up and delivered.
Anna DeBeer and Lydia Martyn added 16 and 14 kills respectively, with Martyn hitting a ridiculous .609. The Ignite hit .333 as a team. They came ready to play and Omaha had no answer.
Setting New Records
Omaha wasn't just winning this year—they were making history. They set a league-best 21-8 record and packed the stands with an average of 10,925 fans per home game. The team set records for most wins and sweeps in a regular season. Nuneviller and Valentín-Anderson both earned All-League honors. But records don't win playoff games.
Mac Podraza made her own mark, setting a franchise record with 62 assists. But even that wasn't enough to sway the tide.
And just like that, the Supernovas' season ended.
What Comes Next?
Omaha's journey may be done, but the legacy they built this year won't fade. They were the standard-bearers of U.S. Pro Volleyball in 2025. Now, it's about what's next. Can they build on this foundation?
For Omaha, it's a bitter end to a historic run. But you can feel it—next season can't come soon enough.
