Poland walked into Chicago and straight up handled business against the USA. 3-0 sweep. And just like that, they're back on top of the Volleyball Nations League 2025 standings.
Poland's Power Play
This wasn't just another match. It was a statement. Michał Gierżot led the charge with a match-high 15 points, showing the Americans they had no answer for his firepower. Kewin Sasak and Aleksander Śliwka chipped in with 10 and 9 points, respectively. Śliwka, the captain, summed it up best: "This group is really special, they’re very ambitious and confident."
The Polish Takeover
In a city where Polish heritage runs deep, the fans showed up in droves. Over 800,000 Polish-Americans call Chicago home, and they made their presence felt. The NOW Arena turned into a sea of red and white, backing Poland as they dismantled the Americans 25-20, 25-21, 25-22.
USA's Response
Cooper Robinson led the USA with nine points, but it wasn't enough. Micah Ma’a, the setter, acknowledged the challenge: "It’s tough to play here against Poland, but it’s also the best." Despite their efforts, the Americans couldn't keep up with Poland's momentum.
