The U.S. Girls U19 National Team went toe-to-toe with Bulgaria in an epic battle at the 2025 Girls U19 World Championship. The result? Silver medals hanging around their necks after a 3-1 defeat. This match? Chaos. The good kind.

Bulgaria's Breakthrough

Suli Davis was a force, straight up. Named Best Outside Hitter, she led the charge with 17 points, 13 kills, and 3 aces. But Bulgaria brought the heat with a 3-1 win (21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 29-27). Bulgaria's 14 fewer errors? That was the game-changer.

The U.S. dominated the first set, thanks to a 6-1 start. Cari Spears and Davis were relentless. Back-to-back kills had Bulgaria calling timeouts. But Bulgaria wasn't going down easy. Their 7-2 run made it tight, but the U.S. closed it out with kills from Henley Anderson and Davis.

Momentum Swings

Bulgaria flipped the script in the second set. Seven straight points after a 7-7 tie? That's how you take control. The U.S. fought, but Davis and Spears' three points each weren't enough to close the gap.

The third set was all Bulgaria. A 5-0 run to start and the U.S. was chasing shadows. Davis added three points, but Bulgaria's lead was unbreakable.

The Final Push

The fourth set was a rollercoaster. The U.S. clawed back from a 7-4 deficit, leveled it at 9 with a Kelly Kinney kill. A Davis ace gave them a 13-10 lead. But Bulgaria's 10-1 run was a gut punch. The U.S. hit back with a 10-3 run, earning set point with a Jordan Taylor block. Yet, Bulgaria had the final word, clinching the gold with a block.

Lily Hayes held down the backcourt with 14 digs. Anderson, named Best Opposite, and Abbey Emch made big plays. But Bulgaria's resilience was the story.

Let's be real, this U.S. team is stacked. Medaling in four straight World Championships? That's big time. And from there… it was over.
