Fifteen of the best from the U.S. Women’s National Team are packing their bags for Łódź, Poland. Why? To take on the world in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League Final Round. They're up against the world’s elite, but this squad's got history and hunger on their side.
Redemption Time
The U.S. Women finished the prelims with a 7-5 record, snagging the eighth spot. But here's the kicker: they open against No. 1 seed Italy on July 23 at 7:30 a.m. PDT. Yeah, Italy swept us 3-0 earlier this year, but this is a whole different ball game. Head Coach Erik Sullivan is rolling out a roster that’s a mix of Olympians and rising stars. Jordyn Poulter, Dana Rettke, and Avery Skinner bring their Olympic experience, while Khalia Lanier is set to make her 2025 debut.
The Powerhouse Roster
The depth is real. Madi Skinner, Roni Jones-Perry, Sarah Franklin, and Logan Eggleston are ready to light it up on the outside. In the backcourt, Morgan Hentz and Lexi Rodriguez will hold down the fort as liberos. And let's not forget Stephanie Samedy opposite and the towering middles Brionne Butler, Amber Igiede, and Tia Jimerson. This team? Built to surprise.
Previous Battles
Look back at the prelims: wins against Korea (3-0) and a hard-fought victory over France (3-2) showed resilience. Sure, they stumbled against teams like Brazil and Italy, but the U.S. has a knack for turning the tables come playoff time. Logan Eggleston summed it up, "We've learned from every match. Now, it's go time."
The Stakes
Since the VNL's inception, the U.S. Women have been a constant threat, bagging gold in 2018, 2019, and 2021. A win against Italy? That’s a statement. And from there… it could be anyone’s game. You could feel it coming.
The path is set. The U.S. Women are more than ready to handle business. Keep your eyes on this squad. If they pull this off, it could be legendary.
That'll do it.
