Stockton Volleyball is gearing up for 2025, and they're not messing around.
Commitment to the Grind
Chelsea Abercrombie, the Stockton head coach, summed it up best. "This summer, our team committed to the grind," she said. And the results? An average vertical increase of 2.58 inches.
You could feel it coming. This team is ready.
Abercrombie, now a senior, already led the team with 432 assists last season. She's back with big plans and bigger expectations.
The Yokley Factor
Sophia Yokley isn't just stepping up—she's stepping into a whole new role. Last year, she anchored the defense as libero. This year? She's taking on the middle hitter position. "Her growth in the role has been nothing short of impressive," said Abercrombie.
This isn't just a position change. It's a game-changer. Yokley's volleyball IQ is off the charts, and now she'll be hitting from the middle. Opponents beware.
Palmer's Triple-Double Threat
Then there's Nicole Palmer. A two-time reigning NJAC Player of the Year. She's eyeing a historic third straight win. Palmer's versatility as a hitter and setter makes her a nightmare for defenses. Last season, she was one of only 29 NCAA Division III players with multiple triple-doubles.
That's big time.
Depth and Experience
With 11 returning letter winners, Stockton's roster is stacked. Rileigh Wilson and Camille De La Torre bring depth and experience to the front row. Wilson's consistent 195 kills and a .220 hitting percentage make her a force. Meanwhile, De La Torre adds reliability with 84 matches under her belt.
And let's not forget Regan Mendick. In her fourth year directing the offense, her numbers—5.62 assists per set and ninth in aces with 0.49 per set—speak for themselves.
The Defensive Duo
In the back row, McKenna Ritchie and Lauren Sommer form a solid defensive duo. Ritchie's led the team in digs for two seasons and racked up 73 aces.
And from there... it was over.
Stockton's looking to make waves this season. With players stepping up and redefining roles, this team is ready to take over.
That'll do it.
