The Dallas Pulse felt the sting of a late-game comeback from the Orlando Valkyries Friday night. Orlando took the match 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25) at Comerica Center, leaving the Pulse to ponder what might have been.
Early Leads Mean Nothing
Mimi Colyer was a force, matching the season-high for points in a four-setter with 27. She dropped 22 kills at a blistering .388 hitting percentage. But even Colyer's heroics couldn't stop Orlando's rally.
Dallas built a solid lead in the first set. Up 24-18, they were ready to close it out. Then came the Orlando Valkyries with a block-touch challenge that flipped the script. Natalie Foster was ice at the service line, leading a 7-0 run that snatched the set, 25-23.
Dallas Fights Back
Round two was all about Natalia Valentin-Anderson. Her 43 assists and 16 digs helped steer Dallas to a 25-20 win. It was her 10th double-double this season. The Pulse looked alive, but the Valkyries had other plans.
Tension and Turnovers
The third set was a tug-of-war. Orlando started hot at 6-1, but Dallas clawed back to 11-11. Yet, the Pulse's .135 hitting percentage couldn't match Orlando's cleaner play. The Valkyries edged it out, 25-23.
Net Fault Seals It
Set four was a deadlock until a net-fault challenge gave Orlando the edge. The Valkyries never looked back, closing the match 25-20.
With the loss, Dallas drops to 8-5, while Orlando climbs to 7-6. The Pulse will look to rebound against the Atlanta Vibe on March 1. Expect fireworks. That'll do it.
