The 2025 preseason volleyball coaches' poll is out, and guess what? Nebraska is sitting pretty at the top. Not shocking if you know volleyball. The Cornhuskers are back to flex their muscles.
NEBRASKA'S DOMINANCE
The Big Ten juggernaut racked up 1,490 points and snagged 40 first-place votes. They’re not just here to play; they're here to win. Five national titles, the last one in 2017, and they’re itching for more.
John Cook, Nebraska’s head coach, must be smiling wider than the Nebraska plains. He’s got a squad that’s hungry and ready.
PENN STATE'S PRESSURE
Right on their heels? Penn State. The defending NCAA champs aren't giving up the crown easily. They pulled in 1,459 points and 21 first-place votes. Coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley knows how to rally her troops.
Last year they were unbeatable. This year, they're eyeing a repeat. But they’re not the only ones in the mix.
THE OTHER CONTENDERS
Pittsburgh and Louisville sit at slots three and four. Pittsburgh’s got talent coming out of their ears. And Louisville? Well, they were last year’s runners-up. They know what it takes to go the distance.
And don’t sleep on Texas. They round out the top five. Always dangerous, always a threat.
THE CHASE BEGINS
The season kicks off on August 22. Expect fireworks from the get-go. Nebraska’s got a target on their back. Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Louisville are locked and loaded.
When the dust settles, who’ll be left standing? Get ready, because this season? It’s going to be straight up dominant. That’ll do it.
