The Indy Ignite nearly pulled off the ultimate rookie move.
ORLANDO'S DOMINANCE
Orlando Valkyries took home the PVF Championship with a 3-1 victory over the Ignite. They delivered set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 19-25, and 25-15 at Lee’s Family Forum. Brittany Abercrombie was the star, tallying 28 kills, three blocks, and eight digs with a jaw-dropping 40.3% efficiency.
Indy just couldn't find an answer. Jenna Hilley admitted, "Brittany kind of took over the entire game." And she wasn't wrong.
INDY'S PROMISING FUTURE
Despite the loss, Azhani Tealer was a force with 16 kills. "This is a big step for our organization," she said, reflecting on their impressive journey. Indy showed grit, particularly in the third set where Tealer's seven kills sparked a comeback.
The Ignite's young roster, including Nina Cajic and Caroline 'CC' Crawford, proved they belong. Indy was the team nobody expected, but they made everyone take notice.
THE TURNING POINT
Indy led 3-2 in the fourth set. Then Orlando went on a 10-4 run. That was it. You could feel it coming. "We just looked choppy," said head coach George Padjen.
THE ROAD AHEAD
This was just the beginning for the Ignite. With a solid foundation and a young core, expect them to come back stronger. The league's watching now.
That'll do it.
