The 2025 3A boys volleyball season is here, and Grantsville is looking to defend their crown. Last year, they were no joke, finishing 18-7 and taking the state title with a 3-0 sweep over North Sanpete. Breanna Dzierzon, in her first year as head coach, is ready to run it back.

GRANTSVILLE'S CHALLENGE

Joe Bailey, an outside hitter and senior, is one to watch. He was a problem last year, and you can bet he's hungry for more. Alongside him, Hunter Powell and Isaac Nordgren are ready to step up. Dzierzon knows the task ahead: "We have a lot of work ahead, but I believe we will be successful."

THE CONTENDERS

Kyle Komenda leads a Rockwell team that went 13-9 last year. They lost in the semifinals, but with key returners like Madden Bell and Jack Komenda, they're poised for a run. "We expect the level of competition in 3A/2A to jump up," Komenda says. You could feel it coming.

Meanwhile, Salt Lake Academy is bringing back six of their seven starters. Brogan Johnson is in his first year as head coach, and he's got Juan Zuniga and Danny Alvarez ready to make waves. They were 18-12 last year, and they're not looking to slow down.

THE DARK HORSES

Watch out for Tim Wright and his Ogden High School squad. They were 14-12 last year, and with the Crowther brothers, Case and Keen, they're eyeing upsets. "We are excited to see how that energy carries into this new season," says Wright.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Expect fireworks from Day 1. This isn't just volleyball; it's a battle. Every team knows the stakes, and every match could flip the script. Can Grantsville handle business again? Stay tuned. This season's the real deal.
