The U.S. Men's National Team didn't just win—they handled business. Gabi Garcia lit up the scoreboard with 19 points, leading the U.S. to a clean sweep over Canada in the Volleyball Nations League. Three tight sets (25-23, 25-22, 30-28) and it was game over.
Gabi Garcia's Night
Garcia was a problem for Canada. 15 kills, 3 aces, and a night to remember. "I'm just trying to have fun out there," Garcia said. And fun he had, slicing through the Canadian defense like a hot knife.
Karch Kiraly, the U.S. head coach, praised Garcia's versatility, highlighting how the team ran plays to maximize his effectiveness. "He scored a couple of big points on the aces and was scoring so well behind the setter," Kiraly noted.
Micah Ma’a in Control
Veteran setter Micah Ma’a was the quiet architect behind the scenes. He orchestrated a .383 hitting percentage, and his clutch ace in the second set was pivotal. "Cooper had a rough outing last night and came back just as we hoped," Kiraly said, nodding to Cooper Robinson's bounce-back with 11 kills.
Heartbreak and Resilience
The win comes with a side of heartbreak. Shane Holdaway, making his national team debut, suffered a serious injury. "My heart is really heavy for Shane," Kiraly shared. But the team rallied, taking the win for their sidelined brother. Ethan Champlin picked up the slack with 6 kills and 6 digs.
The U.S. now sits at 4-2 in the standings, eyeing their next clash with Poland. You could feel it coming. This team? They're building something special. And just like that, they're a force to be reckoned with.
