Penn State's men’s volleyball team was on a mission. But Ball State had other plans.

Early Fire, Late Fizzle

Matthew Luoma and Will Kuhns came out swinging. They lit up the scoreboard to give Penn State a quick 5-0 lead. But Ball State wasn't having it. They fought back with a mix of kills and aces, flipping the script. Penn State's early spark? Snuffed out. First set to Ball State, 25-20.

The Luoma Show

Then, Luoma took over. The Nittany Lions roared back in the second set, flipping the 25-20 script right back at Ball State. Owen Rose and Michael Schwob joined the party, and suddenly, Penn State looked alive. This was their moment.

Third Set Collapse

But then, chaos. The third set was a nightmare for Penn State. Errors piled up, and Raje Alleyne and Braydon Savitski-Lynde capitalized for Ball State. 25-12. Ouch.

A Fight to the Finish

In the fourth set, Sean Harvey and the Lions clawed their way back. But Ball State's depth showed. They closed it out in five, 15-10, leaving Penn State to wonder what could have been.

This wasn't just a loss. Ball State showed why they're ranked higher. They handled business. And from here, Penn State has some reflecting to do.

That'll do it.
