Wiley University Volleyball just dropped their 2025 schedule. First season under Frankie Velez? This is where it gets interesting.
Velez's Vision
Sixteen matches. Six at home. Coach Frankie Velez isn't just playing for wins. He's crafting a team. "We're building the foundation for victories, brick by brick," Velez said. It's all about growth, not just the scoreboard.
Preseason Mix-Up
The Lady Wildcats kick things off with six scrimmages. On August 19, they face Panola College and Southwestern Christian College. The next day? A showdown at the Cedar Valley College Tournament. There's no pressure here. Just a chance to experiment and find their groove.
Rivalries and Roadies
Season opener? A classic. Wiley hits the road against Texas College on August 29. Then it's Jarvis Christian University on September 10. Circle September 17. That's when they return home to face the Lady Bulldogs. Rachelle Santos, their leading hitter, is ready to shine.
Conference Play Begins
Entering their fourth season in the HBCUAC, Wiley starts with Southern University of New Orleans on September 12. The next day? A true test against defending champs Dillard University. The conference is going divisional, keeping things tight and competitive.
Home Stretch
Four of their last six matches are at home. October 10 and 11 bring SUNO and Dillard back to Alumni Gymnasium. Senior Day is on October 30 against Philander Smith University. The Lady Wildcats want to send a message: They're not the same team from last year.
The Big Picture
With nearly the entire squad returning, including Shyla Starks, this team is loaded. Last season? Just three wins. This time? Expect a different story. They're aiming for the HBCUAC title, and you can feel it coming.
That'll do it. Wiley's ready to rewrite their story.
