Edgewood's volleyball road trip? Rough ride. Taking on the UW-Oshkosh Titans, ranked third in Division III, was always going to be a mountain to climb. But, the Carthage Firebirds weren't about to offer any reprieve.
TITANS TOO TOUGH
The Titans? Straight up dominant. Edgewood struggled to keep pace with UW-Oshkosh's relentless attack. The Titans, sitting comfortably at No. 3, flexed their muscles, leaving the Eagles scrambling. No answer for their power.
Payton Schultz, the Titans' powerhouse, was on fire. She led the charge with a jaw-dropping performance, racking up kills like it was a practice drill. Meanwhile, Edgewood's defense? Overwhelmed and outmatched.
Coach Megan Johnson knew what they were up against, saying, "We expected a challenge, and that's exactly what we got."
FIREBIRDS ADD TO THE WOES
If the Titans weren't enough, the Firebirds decided to join the party. Ranked just outside the top contenders, Carthage was in no mood to let Edgewood breathe.
Madison Carrington was the star for the Firebirds, taking control and leaving Edgewood's blockers in the dust. Her precision and power were a lethal combo that Edgewood just couldn't counter.
Edgewood's setter, Sarah Benson, tried to rally her team, but the Firebirds' defense was a wall. Every attempt to swing momentum back? Denied.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR EDGEWOOD?
This tri-match was a reality check for Edgewood. Facing two formidable opponents back-to-back showcased exactly where they need to tighten up.
The road ahead? Tough, but not impossible. This experience could be the fuel they need to regroup and recalibrate.
Next stop for the Eagles? Home court, where they'll look to turn things around.
And from here… it's all about the comeback.
