Two matches, two wins. Penn State Women's Volleyball stormed into the season with a perfect start, and let's just say, they were anything but subtle.
Martin Makes Her Mark
Kennedy Martin wasted no time showing why she was the transfer everyone wanted. Against No. 12 Creighton, she was unstoppable. Fourteen kills. Game MVP. She made it look too easy as the Nittany Lions swept Creighton in straight sets.
"Kennedy was explosive, bringing energy and precision," said Head Coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. You could feel it coming.
Kansas Tested Them
Then came Monday. The No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks weren't going to roll over. Jovana Zelenovic put on a blocking clinic, with 10 blocks that had Emmi Sellman and the Penn State offense scrambling.
But here's where it changed. Izzy Starck and Maggie Mendelson found their groove, mixing it up to disrupt Kansas. Caroline Jurevicius stepped up big time, earning game MVP honors and helping Penn State claw back after trailing 2-1. The Nittany Lions dug deep to win the fourth set 30-28 and clinched the fifth 15-12. That's resilience.
