Nebraska's volleyball team? Locked and loaded.
Middle Blockers Show Up
Rebekah Allick and her crew? They weren't just good—they were game-changers. In the Red-White scrimmage, Nebraska's middle blockers racked up 40 kills. Just one shy of the outside hitters but with 55 fewer swings. That's what you call efficiency.
Allick led the charge with 16 kills. Andi Jackson wasn't too far behind, throwing down 9 kills and hitting .400. "Another 'average day' at the office," said Lincoln Arneal. Yeah, right.
Kenna Cogill and Manaia Ogbechie also left their marks. Cogill, perhaps the least hyped newcomer, showed up with authority. Quick off the floor, whip arm swing. She made adjustments like a vet, not a freshman. Allick herself praised Cogill’s mature attacks.
Setting the Bar High
The setters? They were locked in, feeding the middles with precision. Bergen Reilly dared with one-handed back sets, aiming to ignite Allick. And the slide to Jackson? Always money.
Nebraska’s middle game isn't just strong; it's a statement. With potential All-Americans in Allick and Jackson, plus solid subs, this team is built for the grind. The Big Ten better be ready.
Setter Showdown
Is Nebraska home to the best setter group in the country? Dani Busboom Kelly might think so. "We have two really good setters," she said post-scrimmage. Tough to argue when neither stands head and shoulders above the other.
This depth gives Nebraska options, flexibility, and, most importantly, a serious competitive edge.
And from here? The Huskers are just getting started.
That'll do it.
