Nebraska and Texas. Two powerhouses battling it out at the top of the NCAA volleyball world. Nebraska has the edge for now, but it’s tighter than a five-set thriller.
Nebraska Holds On
Nebraska, ranked No. 1, barely survived a scare from Creighton. Five sets of tension, ending with the Huskers hitting .438. Harper Murray led the charge with 17 kills. They’re heading into conference play with a clean slate and five ranked wins. That’s big time.
Texas Breathing Down Their Necks
The Texas Longhorns are neck-and-neck with Nebraska. You could argue they deserve the top spot with their stacked resume. They’ve got three top-10 wins, just like Nebraska. All that, with a crew of young guns only getting better. Watch out.
Pitt on the Prowl
Then there’s Pitt. Moving from No. 4 to No. 3, they’re back to their dominant ways. A four-set victory over Penn State with Brooke Mosher setting them to a .299 hitting percentage. The Panthers are making noise.
Kentucky Climbs Higher
Kentucky is coming in hot at No. 4. They took down Louisville in a five-set showdown. Brooklyn DeLeye and Eva Hudson were unstoppable, with Hudson having a career day against Washington. They’re a threat to anyone.
Watch Out for Stanford
Stanford sits at No. 5, but they’re lurking. Erika Sayer is a force, dropping 13 kills on a .611 clip against UCLA. Don’t sleep on them.
As the season heats up, keep your eyes on these teams. The battle for the top spot is far from over.
