The Power 10 rankings are heating up, and Nebraska is still sitting pretty at the top. They showed grit at the AVCA First Serve Showcase, taking down top-ten teams back-to-back. Harper Murray was on fire, dropping a massive 23 kills with a .340 hitting percentage. When you're putting up those numbers, it's no wonder the Huskers are looking unstoppable.
Texas Takes Charge
Meanwhile, the Texas Longhorns have stormed up to number two, leaving no doubt they're here to play. They handled business at the Opening Spike Classic, sweeping No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 12 Creighton. Freshman Cari Spears wasn't just good, she was unreal, racking up 11 kills on a .476 clip. And let's not forget the defensive wall set by Emma Halter and Ramsey Gary in the backcourt. This duo is a problem.
Kentucky's Grit
Kentucky may have a 1-1 record, but don't sleep on them. They gave Nebraska a run for their money, winning the first two sets before the Huskers flipped the match. Brooklyn Deleye and Eva Hudson are straight up dangerous, combining for 42 kills against the top-ranked team. With Ava Sarafa stepping in as the new setter, this team is just getting started.
Arizona State's Surprise
Arizona State? Yeah, they just made a huge statement. Unranked to sixth in one week, thanks to their upset over No. 2 Penn State. Noemie Glover put on a clinic with 22 kills and 10 blocks, career highs for her. Coach JJ Van Niel has built something special here, and you could feel it coming.
This season is shaping up to be a rollercoaster. Nebraska's dominance is unquestioned, but Texas and others are closing in fast. Keep an eye on these teams. Things are just getting started.
