Nebraska volleyball? Untouchable. Friday night, they steamrolled over Northwestern Wildcats in front of a roaring Pink Out crowd of 8,516. Set scores? 25-17, 25-13, and 25-17. Nebraska didn't just win. They made a statement.
Early Fight, Then Total Control
Set one was a tug-of-war. Both teams grappled for control until Nebraska flipped the switch with a 7-0 run, turning a 9-8 deficit into a decisive 20-10 lead. Game over. Northwestern tried to hang around, but Nebraska slammed the door shut.
Set two? More of the same. Tight at first, then the Huskers took over with two 5-1 runs. A 9-1 surge closed the set. Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick delivered the kills, while Bergen Reilly set the pace. Northwestern had no answer.
Blocking the Wildcats
Northwestern has height, sure. But Nebraska's block? Dominant. Out-blocking the Wildcats 10-1, with Jackson leading the charge. That lone block for Northwestern? Buse Hazan was their saving grace. But it wasn't nearly enough.
Errors Galore for Northwestern
Nebraska let Northwestern beat themselves. 21 attack errors for the Wildcats. The Huskers? A clean .357 hitting percentage with just 11 errors. This marks the ninth time Nebraska's opponent hit this error threshold. Allick knows it: "Complacency is my biggest fear moving forward."
From there… it was over.
Next up? Another Big Ten showdown. Watch out, Michigan.
