LOVB Atlanta is on fire. 8-1 record and counting. But can they stay on top?
The Atlanta Machine
Kelsey Cook and Tia Jimerson have been tearing it up, no doubt. But it’s not just them. Danielle Cuttino stepped up when Tessa Grubbs went down. Magda Jehlarova? 12 kills and .474 hitting against Omaha. Atlanta’s reverse sweep against Omaha showed they're resilient. Down 0-2, they flipped the match. And from there… it was over.
But let's be real, Atlanta’s lead is anything but safe. They still have rematches against Houston and Austin. It's the Wild West out here.
Houston's Roller Coaster Ride
When Jordan Thompson and Micha Hancock play, Houston is a problem. They’ve beaten Madison, Omaha, and Atlanta back-to-back at the LOVB Classic. Rookie Jess Mruzik is fresh off an NCAA title and making waves. Amber Igiede and Anna Pogany bring the heat. Depth is key, and Houston has it.
They’re trailing Atlanta, but not by much. Three upcoming clashes against the leaders? Opportunity is knocking.
Austin's Potential
Austin stumbled against Madison, ending their three-match winning streak. But don’t count them out. Madisen Skinner and Logan Eggleston are no joke. Add Chiaka Ogbogu and Leah Hardeman to the mix, and Austin has firepower. Carli Lloyd leading the charge as setter, and you know things will get interesting.
Their schedule is brutal. They face Atlanta, Houston, and Omaha again. But this is where champions show up.
The Bottom Line
Atlanta leads, but this race isn't over. Houston and Austin are hungry. And just like that, we’ve got a battle on our hands. Expect fireworks as the finals approach.
That'll do it.
