No. 2 Long Beach State is on a roll. Undefeated, and they just made Fort Valley State look like a warm-up drill.
Defense Wins Games
Jackson Cryst and Wojciech Gajek were everywhere. Cryst with five blocks, Gajek with four. Fort Valley had no answer. The Beach shut them down 25-13, 25-19, 25-8. Straight up dominant.
“We're well prepared for every single game and we know what to expect,” said Gajek. And guess what? Nothing's catching these guys off guard.
Offense on Fire
While the defense was locking it down, Alex Kandev and Skyler Varga were busy lighting it up. Kandev's five kills led a 12-4 run that put the first set to bed.
Fort Valley tried to claw back in the second set, cutting the lead to 18-15. But then Cryst said, "Not today," with back-to-back kills to finish it 25-19.
Finishing Strong
The third set? A 12-1 blitz to start. Cryst and Varga combined for three blocks, and from there, it was over. Long Beach State closed it out 25-10. Handled business.
Head coach Nick MacRae had it right: “It’s a credit to our gym.” Hard work pays off, and The Beach is proving it.
Next up? Long Island University. Long Beach plans to keep this streak alive. You could feel it coming.
