Loyola Marymount University just put the rest of the West Coast Conference on notice. The Lions cleaned up at the WCC Awards.
COACHING MASTERCLASS
John Mayer is no stranger to success, and he's got the hardware to prove it. Named WCC Coach of the Year, Mayer led LMU to a season that was nothing short of spectacular. This isn't just about wins—it’s about building a dynasty.
DOMINANT DUO
And then there's Chloe Hooker and Anna Pelloia. This pair took home the WCC Pair of the Year honors. Their chemistry on the sand? Unmatched. Opponents had no answer for their aggressive serves and smart plays. They didn’t just win matches—they dominated them.
THE DEFENSIVE WALL
Vilhelmiina Prihti brought home the Defensive Player of the Year award, and for good reason. Her ability to read the game and react with precision is a coach's dream. Teams quickly learned that getting past her was a tall order.
FRESHMAN ON FIRE
Isabelle Reffel wasn't content with just being a newcomer. She stormed onto the scene and claimed Freshman of the Year. Her adaptability and fearless attitude on the court set her apart. You could feel it coming.
STACKED ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Rounding out LMU's accolades were seven All-Conference First Team selections. Hooker, Pelloia, Prihti, and Tanon Rosenthal, Michelle Shaffer, Abbey Thorup, and Lisa Luini all made the cut. It's clear: this team is loaded.
Let's be real, LMU isn't just participating in the WCC—they're running the show. And from here on out, the target on their back just got bigger. Expect more fireworks next season. That'll do it.
