First-year head coach Jared Marks isn't easing into the spotlight. Penn State Behrend women's volleyball is the team to beat, named the favorite in the AMCC Preseason Coaches' poll. The buzz? Cadence Jones, the sophomore sensation, crowned Preseason Player of the Year.
JONES MAKING WAVES
Last year, Jones was no joke. The sophomore broke Behrend's season record for kills with a staggering 470. She was a force, earning 2024 All-AMCC First Team and both AMCC and ECAC Newcomer-of-the-Year honors.
And just like that, she's back for more.
THE SUPPORTING CAST
But let's not forget the powerhouse behind Jones. Brynne Smith, the sophomore setter, is a game-changer. She led the conference with 815 total assists and finished second with 58 service aces. Smith's playmaking skills are no joke.
With 12 returners and 8 newcomers, Behrend's roster is stacked. They're ready to handle business.
THE PATH AHEAD
Behrend ended 2024 with a 13-18 record, third in the conference. They swept La Roche in the playoffs before falling in the semis to Penn State Altoona.
Now, they're eyeing redemption. The Lions kick off the Jared Marks era on August 29 against Bethany.
This season? It's all about proving they're the real deal.
And from there… it was over.
