The 2025 Volleyball Nations League is heating up—and both U.S. squads are right in the thick of it. One is Finals-bound. The other is fighting to stay alive. Here’s where things stand after another wild round of international action.

🇺🇸 USA Women: Hanging On to the Finals Cut

The U.S. Women’s National Team has wrapped preliminary play in 8th place, securing the final spot in the upcoming VNL Finals—for now. With Poland already in as the host, that slot isn’t exactly safe, but the stars and stripes still have a shot.

📊 Standings Snapshot:

  • Record: 5-4
  • Set Ratio: 1.058
  • Point Ratio: 0.977

The team’s been a rollercoaster—tight wins, painful losses, and just enough momentum to hold position in a ruthless field.

🔥 Standouts:

  • Jordan Thompson: Still dropping bombs from the opposite pin.
  • Justine Wong-Orantes: Serve receive clinic, every match.
  • Jordyn Poulter: Dialed in as the setter, keeping hitters hot.
  • Avery Skinner + Ali Frantti: Consistent kill threats with steady hands in reception.
  • Dana Rettke + Khalia Lanier + Morgan Hentz: Key depth pieces rounding out a deep, versatile roster.

📍 Next Stop: VNL Finals in Łódź, Poland – July 23–27
We’ll find out soon if the USA holds its top-8 spot and heads to Poland to chase gold.

🇺🇸 USA Men: Fighting for Survival

It’s crunch time for the U.S. Men’s National Team. With a 4-4 record and sitting in 13th, they’ve got work to do—and fast. The top eight teams punch a ticket to the Finals in China, and time’s ticking.

📊 Standings Snapshot:

  • Set Ratio: 0.765
  • Point Ratio: 0.968
  • Points: 10

Translation: The math isn’t great. But they’re not done yet.

🔥 Standouts:

  • Micah Ma’a: Quarterbacking with swagger and precision.
  • Eric Shoji: Captain. Libero. Legend.
  • Kyle Ensing: Bringing firepower and experience to the right side.
  • Gabby Garcia + Merrick McHenry: Big impact, high energy.
  • Jeff Jendryk: Middle presence making a difference.
  • Briggs, Isaacson, Hobus: All contributing major minutes and momentum.

📍 Next Matches: Through July 13
USA needs wins—and some help from the volleyball gods—to climb back into Finals range. If they make it, they’ll head to Ningbo, China – July 30 to August 3.

The Big Picture

  • USA Women: On the bubble but dangerous. A few key plays away from a serious Finals run.
  • USA Men: Their backs are against the wall—but they’ve got grit, talent, and time (barely).

We’re tracking every spike, dig, and dagger serve as Team USA battles for global glory.
